Warning: This is NOT a hot job!

Job Seekers, this is an important scam warning – please take note.

It has been brought to our attention today by a Job Seeker who was fortunate enough to have someone lookout for her, that the Jobs.co.za website has been taken advantage of by scammers together with hundreds of our job applicants.

As a result of the Jobs.co.za website holding the top ranking on major search engines for the keyword ‘jobs’ we became the ideal target for scammers to abuse the good intentions of what our website stands for.  We received the warning from a Job Seeker that had applied to the scam job and received her very own copy of the scam job offer. She contacted us and was kind enought to bring this to our attention and submitted a copy of a recent press article about the scam that was published in the times on 4 August entitled ‘Dream Job too good to be true’

After reviewing the article we immediately removed the job advertisment from our website and will take action in notifying all Job Seekers that have applied to the job to be warned of the scam.

The article mentioned that job sites were warned to check the validity of the job. This comment is not entirely true as Jobs.co.za never received any warning or notifications of the scam from any of the parties mentioned in the article.  This is the first that we have heard of the scam and naturally we do not take this sort of thing lightly and we will not tolerate, support or overlook such attempts to deceive our Job Seekers.

Should we have received prior warning, we would have been able to act sooner.  However, we have taken action and only hope that other job sites such as our own do not fall prey to such garbage.
