What is an Online Job Portal?

Not everyone quite gets the whole online job portal thing, so I thought that Id lend a helping hand and demystify the very essence of my existence…Online Job Portals.

So here we go, it really is all quite simple.

Jobs.co.za is an Online Job Portal, in fact, its South Africa’s Online Job Portal :”)

What this means is that as the name suggests, we are a portal, on the internet that specialises in jobs.

Sorry to be frank, I’m not, I’m Jo and am trying to show you how simple this concept really is.

We essentially service two schools of users. On the one hand we have paying Recruiters who subscribe to the website. On the other, we have Job Seekers who register and use the website as a job hunting tool. We are in fact not recruiters ourselves but rather provide a platform where Recruiters and Job Seekers transact with one another.

Recruiters subscribing to the Jobs website, and might I add, Only Recruiters, are equipped with Candidate search tools (quick and advanced) as well as the ability to advertise their clients job vacancies.

The key to using an Online Job Portal for Recruiters is to make use of the system in an all encompassing manner.

Although job advertising and running Job Seeker searches can be done in isolation, we always recommend that recruiters make use of all the tools available to them.

While Recruiters are able to search the Job Seeker database of active Job Seekers, at the same time we would recommend that they advertise the role in the form of a job advert. To improve your reach and quality of Job Seekers on Online Job Portals, it is advisable to make use of all Recruiter resources that are available on each given job portal.  These will vary from website to website and no Online Jobs Portal is the same as the other but the point here is to use all the Recruiter tools that are available to you for optimum results.

On the Job Seekers side of things, Job Seekers are able to register a Profile with Jobs.co.za and upload or create up to date, tailored CV’s. Job Seekers are also able to run searches (quick or advanced) for relevant advertised job posts currently live on to website. Provided that they have a registered CV, upon finding their ideal role, they are able to proceed by applying to the job advert directly on the portal, directly to the relevant advertiser.

And that my dear friends is Online Job Portal 101

Naturally I could go into more detail about OUR Online Job Portal, but my intention here is not to sell but rather educate and today’s topic was Online Job Portals and I hope I have helped clear up any confusions that you may have had.

As always, I’m still very lonely here all by myself in this blog, sp feel free to ask questions, challenge and recommend topics of discussion whenever the urge arises.

Thank you for your time

I’m out…
