Job Seeker Registration 101
No comments
Hay Hay its spring day today!
The first day of spring is always one of my best days to be alive.
Days like today remind me of the quote by Grace Hansen who says that; we shouldn’t be afraid that our lives will end, but rather afraid that they will never begin.
So now that I have set the tone for the week let’s get going.
Today, I wanted to talk to you about how to register on Jobs.co.za
I know this may seem a little trivial to be discussing, but there is a method to my madness.
First and foremost, by registering on Jobs.co.za, Job Seekers will be able to access all of the invaluable Job Seeker tools available to them to make use of when looking to find a new Job. With a complete profile behind a secure login there are tons of more tools for Job Seekers to use and use to their advantage.
Over and above this (and here is your incentive), by registering a complete and legitimate profile
(100 % completed registration questions) you are automatically entered into our Job Seeker Registration Competition where you will be eligible to win a GPS navigator.
Job Seekers registering on Jobs.co.za can expect registration to take around 5 minutes or so and really isn’t all that complicated.
There are essentially three sections of brief registration questions that you are required to complete in order to be entered into the draw and to access your Job Seeker tools in their totality.
You will notice that next to each registration question, within each registration section there are tips and prompts to assist you should you get stuck while registering your personal Job Seeker Profile.
Marked by a little blue i for igloo, once you have clicked within the box where you type in the requested information a Tip Box opens on the right of the box and specifically aids you with each question and suggests how best to answer each question.
After completing each line the same blue i for igloo will either change to a little green check mark/tick or alternatively an ugly red cross next to the box.
Green means good to go
Red means stop the show
These are your indicators of whether or not you have input accurate or valid information or not.
Naturally green means all is good and red means “Wrong Answer”.
If you have any red crosses anywhere in your registration form or alternatively have not completed all three sections in full, you won’t be able to proceed and neither will you be eligible to be entered into the draw.
If you are having problems registering or can’t seem to proceed, please do go back through your registration form and double check for these indicators.
If there are any red marks or any blank fields Job Seekers will not be able to proceed with their registration until these are corrected and completed in full.
The three registration sections include; Security Information, Personal Information and finally Job Profile Information.
These are all pretty standard registration fields that are required as a basis for creating a standard user account, no more no less.
The registration security questions are run of the mill and ensure that each user has confidential access to their own profile and account. You will need to have a valid e-mail address which the system will reject if it has already been used in a previous registration. Please also remember that during any registration, when you are asked to repeat your email address, don’t copy and paste this in unless you know for sure the first address was correct. This is in fact not asked of you to see if we can make you “dance monkey dance”, but rather to verify and double check that there are no typos or disparities between the two.
The security questions are followed by your Personal Information. This shouldn’t be all that tricky for you to complete although there are a few things I think I should mention before moving on.
When working on the internet, not even just during Jobs registration, never ever use capital letters. Sure you can begin sentences’ with them and give pro nouns and names a beginning capital letter but under any other circumstances, using capital letters really is bad netiquette – as in etiquette on the internet. Capital letters are essentially words that are being shouted across the internet so try not to use them by choice, sure it’s a little extra effort but are you chatting to a mate or are you trying to find a job that could affect your career for the rest of your life?
One last thing I wanted to mention with regards to Personal Information questions is that your nationality is your citizenship or your belonging to a nation by origin, birth or naturalization and not race or ethnicity as some might think.
Okay, moving on to the Job Profile Information.
This part of Job Seeker registration is where you are required to include information that will build you personal profile on Jobs.co.za Your desired job preferences listed in the Job Profile section will be used to automatically match your Profile to jobs using our Job Matchmaker which makes it pretty relevant to pay attention during this part of the registration process.
Your Profile Headline is the headline that will make the difference to recruiters actually reading your CV or hastily tossing this to the maybe pile. Sell yourself with your Profile Headline; are you an Ops Manager or are you an Organised Operations Manager with attention to detail and a drive to succeed.
You tell me …
Your desired industry is the next curve ball, but here’s how to answer it accurately and relevantly. Even if you are a secretary able to work in ANY industry, this is your opportunity to list your desired industry, desired being the operative word. You may be able and open to work in multiple industries but for registration and matching purposes please select your most desired industry to work in.
Everything else within the Job Profile part of the registration is very much straight forward. Listing your desired job function as well as your experience in years and months, your desired salary paid annually, monthly, weekly or hourly, and your highest level of education. So long as they are complete and they are accurate and consistent to that of your CV you will be able to proceed with your registration without a hitch. Be sure to include your key skills in the free text box, separated by a comma and a space, essentially these are keywords that are going to match your employment desires to recruiters job advert specifications.
With only a few ticks left to go whereby agreeing to the Jobs terms and conditions as well as subscribing to the newsletter or not, after typing out the security captcha and selecting the registration button, you will now be registered.
Remember to look out for nasty little red crosses on your registration form and be sure to remedy these before proceeding with your Job Seeker Registrations.
I hope that this has helped to clear up any issues or questions that you have about registering as a Job Seeker on the Jobs.co.za website but if not…err, you know where to find me.
Thanks everyone.
Have a Great Day and happy Job Hunting!
