The Importance of having a Completed CV
No comments
Hi Job Seekers and Welcome to Friday’s edition of my blog.
Today I wanted to discuss with you the importance of having a complete CV on Jobs.co.za
Jobs has launched with the intention of providing Job Seekers with more flexibility and ease of use than ever before. With this intention it has been our aim to provide Job Seekers with more options to select when applying to a job.
Essentially when Job Seekers register on the Jobs website, the information that is collected during the registration process forms the basis for your Profile.
It is important for Job seekers to understand this, as well as how your Profile and your CV differ.
And away we go…
When you register, aside from security and personal information questions, Job Seekers are also required to complete questions regarding their job preferences and employment desires.
It is this data that makes up your Profile NOT your CV.
Your Profile is a quick glance at your basic employment requirements but by no means serves as a replacement for your CV.
Job Seekers must remember that your employment success relies on your CV’s ability to market yourself and your skills. Based on the brief questions covered in the Profile, it is clear that a Profile is not going to cut it on its own and all Job Seekers need to upload or preferably, create a complete CV to market their skills with.
There is a mantra that I like to live by and it’s really simple but very empowering and can be applied to almost everything in life but especially Job Seeking and building your CV…
What you put in is what you get out…
And similarly, what you give is what you get… what you put in is what you get out… and similarly…You reap what you sow
Every ounce of motivation in the universe stems from a person understanding of this mantra and how well they apply this to their everyday lives.
Guru’s are always gabbing on about mantra’s and strategies that are almost impossible to implement and don’t ever really seem to help all that much…but trust this Guru, this works and works really well.
When searching for a new job, applying to a job vacancy, preparing your cover letter or even following up with Recruiters keep the following line in your mind at all times…
The more you put in the more you get out.
Job Seekers cannot expect to be contacted for an interview after applying to a job vacancy with an incomplete, inarticulate or irrelevant CV – what you put in is what you get out.
Incomplete CV’s = No Job interviews
Inarticulate CV’s = No Job Interviews
Irrelevant CV applications = No Job Interviews
The more effort you put in to creating your CV the more it will deliver quality results.
And with that I would very much like to urge all Job Seekers, whether you have registered on the old Jobs website or on the new on, please update your profiles and complete your CV’s before applying to job adverts.
It’s also wise to remember that Recruiters have access to search the Candidate database meaning, all registered and viewable CV’s. Based on the relevancy of the content in your CV, Recruiters are then able to contact you should they feel your skills compliment that of their recruitment requirements. So, if your CV is incomplete, inarticulate and inaccurate you will not be found by Head-Hunters and other Recruiters running candidate searches on Jobs.co.za.
Well that’s all I’ve got for today.
Please do contact support@jobs.co.za or call 0861 JOBS 101 (0861 5627 101) if you need any assistance in creating and or completing your CV on Jobs.co.za.
All the best and I hope you have a terrific weekend.
All the Best
