The Food and Beverage industry in South Africa is Booming.
No commentsHi everyone and welcome to this new and exciting week in October ‘08
Over this past weekend, I attended a really terrific event hosted at Monte’ Casino in Johannesburg.
The Taste of Jo’burg, came to town and if the name suggests anything…Jo’burg sure does taste terrific.
The Taste of Jo’burg is an annual festival aimed at promoting, marketing and adding due leverage to the food and beverage industry in South Africa.
Many employment opportunities exist in the South African food and beverage industry and South Africa is beginning to notice a shift in people’s perceptions of fine wining and dining.
The Taste of Jo’burg, food and beverage event congregated 15 of Johannesburg’s elite restaurants boasting more than 50 delectably distinctive dishes to test out.
Accompanying the gorgeous tastes produced by Jo’burg’s most talented chefs was an assortment of wineries including both red and white collections to complement and enhance the finest tastes found.
While walking from stand to stand testing out the food and wine, I was flabbergasted at how many talented South African’s we have native to our land. In the recruitment industry is easy to see past the creatively gifted careers that are available to indulge in as well as forget about the culinary flair that our multifaceted culture produces.
I must confess, if I had the slightest hint of a gourmet gift, I don’t think anything would bring me more joy than to produce exquisite dishes for people to coddle and swoon over. What’s more after slaving away in my burning kitchen, how fulfilling would it be to peek through the swing doors and survey patrons responses to a dish I had produced with my own (clean and hygienic) hands.
The food and beverage industry in South Africa is alive and very well. Bursting with talent, enthusiasm and what’s best a limitless resource of “hungry” demand, if you have ever considered a career change or perhaps always had an interest in the food and beverage industry, Id recommend that its worth looking into if you are serious about your pursuits.
Research courses and means to knowledge and establish what it is you are best suited to by performing a few self assessment tests. Oh and another piece of advice…Rush home, don your apron and practice practice practice.
Thanks for your time and to all of you that did experience the fabulous Taste of Jo’burg, I hope you have now found even more reasons to keep eating, drinking an being merry! (In moderation of course)
Until tomorrow
Happy dinner cooking!
