JOB SEEKERS CAN EARN MONEY WHILE LOOKING FOR A JOB
21 November 2008 – Jobs.co.za announces the launch of its Job Seeker Referral Reward Programme where its Job Seekers can earn cash for referring their friends to the South African Job Portal.
With social networking on the rise, the Internet has becomes a very useful tool for hiring new staff through word-of-mouth referrals. Referrals aid in tapping into the passive Job Seeker market quicker than most other mediums.
While some recruiters and job sites may feel threatened by social sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn, Jobs.co.za believes that social networking sites stimulate positive word-of-mouth recruitment opportunities which should be embraced.
Jobs.co.za’s referral reward programme encourages Job Seekers to build their network on the Internet and make use of their contacts by earning money through referrals. Says Gillian Meier, CEO of Jobs.co.za “Word-of-mouth is powerful because people are social and they like to tell their friends and family about what’s going on in their life, whether social or job related. And if they can assist in finding a friend a job, well then that is a rewarding experience it itself.”
The Jobs.co.za Job Seeker Referral Rewards Programme invites registered Job Seekers to refer their friends to the Job Portal, thereby earning points for every legitimate referred Job Seeker registration that is confirmed. Once a Job Seeker has accumulated 500 points, these points can then be exchanged for R500 in cash.
Most businesses are built through relationships, and in the recruitment industry a number of studies have indicated that word-of-mouth recruitment still attracts more credible Job Seekers than most other recruiting mediums. Six out ten small businesses prefer recruiting friends and family members of their current employees and very often, these businesses are happy to provide a referral bonus to the referring employees, who already understand their company culture and candidate requirements well.
Concludes Meier: “We believe that the power of word-of-mouth referral marketing lies in the credibility and independence of the source. Our recent marketing statistics have indicated that 15% of our new Job Seekers register as a direct result of a word-of-mouth referral Our strategy is therefore to further capitalize the source by encouraging and rewarding our Job Seekers for referring new Job Seekers to us”.
