Jobs.co.za Partners with Identirisk SA to Combat Identity and CV Fraud
According to US-based Company, Hire Right, 80 percent of CV's received are misleading in some way with 20 percent containing fraudulent information. Fraud related to identity theft cost South African businesses in excess of R276-million, says Alexander Forbes Insurance.
In an effort to prevent identity theft and CV fraud during the recruitment process, Jobs.co.za (South African Job Portal) has partnered with V-Report (a division of Identirisk South Africa) to provide a service to both Job Seekers and Recruiters that will aid in reducing the risk of un-verified or fraudulent CV's being received during the application process.
Through its partnership with V-Report, Jobs.co.za will now offer its job seekers the opportunity to verify their identity, qualifications, criminal status, employment history and conduct credit checks prior to applying for a position. The V-Report is then placed on a unique URL protected by a secure login available to registered recruitment agencies and companies. Job Seekers will also receive a Virtual Vault on V-Report where they can store employment related credentials.
The Job Seeker can request additional verifications from the range of checks available through
V-Report at any stage, which will automatically be updated and assigned to the Job Seeker's profile. By completing these verifications the Job Seeker immediately increases their marketability and improves their chances of gaining employment over other candidates that have not yet completed verification processes.
The partnership also provides benefits to recruitment agencies and companies by eliminating many of the frustrations that comes with the recruitment process, such as the cost and time spent on having to perform these background checks, as registered recruitment agencies and companies will be able to view the verified applicants' certifications and request updates if required.
Additional benefits provided to companies via the partnership with V-Report include the Candidate Integrity Profile which ascertains the Job Seekers general code of conduct when dealing with companies and recruitment agencies throughout their job hunting phase. The indemnity allows companies to rate an individual positively or negatively for conduct (such as repeatedly not pitching for job interviews or using companies to play one company off against the other for the purpose of gaining a salary increase) and the candidate then has the right to respond fairly to the ratings and comments made.
Says Gillian Meier, CEO of Jobs.co.za: 'Jobs.co.za has always committed itself to being a job seeker centric portal, and we constantly strive towards offerings job seekers a platform where they have access to relevant tools and information that will assist them in advancing in their careers. On the flip side, we want to ensure that our recruiters have access to the best possible quality talent pool. We have always placed much focus on providing our clients with sophisticated screening and filtering tools, and we believe that by introducing V-Report into our system, we are able to provide further value to both our Job Seekers and Recruiters simultaneously'.
Says Shane Meintjes of V-Report: 'With Jobs.co.za being a well-established, well respected and progressive company and one that values its job seekers and clients; and having the same philosophy as V-Report, it was clear to us that there were instant synergies between our companies. The partnership will continue to work towards offering candidates and clients a number of products and services that will benefit them as part of the employment process, and we look forward to welcoming them to the family.'
At the alarming rate at which various types of fraud is occurring, the recruitment screening process has become so much more intense. Candidates are required to provide verified copies of their identity documents, Matric certificates and other qualifications. Companies then undergo additional background checks such as credit or criminal checks depending on the requirement of the role. By integrating V-Report's services with Jobs.co.za, we are now able to offer a seamless verification process in a single location at a very cost-effective rate.
Ultimately, the objective of the partnership between Jobs.co.za and V-Report is to assist in reducing the turnaround time in the recruitment process thereby enabling employment to happen faster and easier, while reducing the risk of un-verified or fraudulent candidates being placed into positions.
