Update: Notice regarding Workerhire.cz, Workingplacements.co.za/com & Shine The Way.
4 March 2011 - Update regarding the investigation pertaining to Workingplacements.co.za, Workinglacements.com & Shine The Way.
Since our previous post on 4th March 2011, please note the following recent developments regarding this investigation:
Workingplacements have contacted us regarding this notice on our website. They promised to desist with any further contact with our job seekers until the investigation had been resolved, however they have not yet complied with our requests regarding the issues being queried as part of the investigation. We are still waiting for this information from them.
It appears that Workingplacements.co.za/com websites have been taken down in the last week and we have discovered another website also connected to Shinetheway called Workerhire.cz/com. We have further identified that Workerhire.cz is attempting to run queries to our restricted database. These attempts have been blocked by Jobs.co.za and we shall continue to monitor this regularly. We await their response to these latest findings and will continue to update you on any developments.
Please note that Workerhire.cz/com do not appear to be linked to the South African website workerhire.co.za who seems to be entirely separate entities.
4 March 2011 - We wish to advise all Job Seekers who might have received any communications from a company by the name of 'Workingplacements.co.za' or 'Shine The Way' to refrain from submitting any registration or administrative fees to them.
We have been informed by several Job Seekers that they have received communications from Workingplacements.com/co.za advising them to register with them and pay an administration fee of R2,000. Please note that Jobs.co.za has not provided access to this company, and that they have obtained Job Seekers details as referrals from a company by the name of 'Shine The Way' who had been registered with Jobs.co.za as an employment service.
Jobs.co.za was only alerted to this on 3 March 2011 and we have immediately suspended the client, Shine The Way from our system and have instructed them to cease any further business dealings or communications with Jobs.co.za candidates pending our investigation. Whilst this investigation is ongoing, we would like to advise our Job Seekers against proceeding with any further interaction with these companies.
We have been in discussions with Workingplacements.co.za/com and Shine The Away who have described their business strategy to us. Workingplacements.co.za/com, have explained to us that they provide an international candidate marketing service to assist Job Seekers in finding employment abroad. We understand that some Job Seekers may have become concerned by the fact that they have requested a fee as this is uncommon practice for employment services within South Africa. Below is an extract from the communication we received from Workinplacements.co.za/com:
'Kindly note that Shine the Way / Workplacements does not receive any fees from employers for placing candidates. This strategy is used with the intention of generating employer interest and create free employer access. If the candidate is not satisfied with our service we provide, we refund him.'
Therefore, should you have already submitted a registration form or paid any fees to this company, we suggest that you write to them and request a refund until such time that you are satisfied that the investigation has been resolved. Please email info at jobs dot co dot za if you have already done so, or if you wish to discuss the matter with us further.
We assure our Job Seekers that your protection is our primary concern at all times.
