About Right to Care:

Right to Care is a non-profit organization (Section 21) that builds public and private-sector capacity for the clinical care and treatment of individuals living with HIV and associated diseases.  Right to Care was established in Johannesburg in 2001 and it is funded chiefly by grants from the US government, through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).  Through a variety of programmes and partnership with government and NGO's, Right to Care supports over 170 sites and funds the clinical care or treatment of over 125 000 HIV-positive individuals.  HIV counseling and testing is provided to 230 000 individuals annually. 

Right to Care has a multi-prolonged approach to the HIV epidemic, among which are:

• Supporting the government's HIV & AIDS programme through human resources, training, data management and infrastructure
• Forming partnerships with the private sector and other NGO's to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and affordable antiretroviral therapy
• Facilitating access to HIV counseling and testing services
• Training and supporting of private-sector doctors in the management of HIV & Aids

Right to Care has 700 fulltime members of staff, located mainly in five provinces in which the organization has a major presence.
