A freight company is currently looking for any industrial engineer graduates who are finished with their studies. They will look at graduates who have no working experience in the Business Solutions field and will provide them with the necessary training etc. The candidate will be based at their Meadowdale offices. <br />Determine the most effective ways to use the basic factors of production - people, machines, materials, information, and energy - to make a product. Develop management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality. Design or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as determining the most efficient plant locations. Provide & analyse data preparation for further analysis, project management, facility design, modelling and process support to the Solutions team, Business Development and Company business units.<br />Regularly scans external & competitive environment for market developments which could impact on our business strategy <br />Develop a clear, meaningful compelling future state delivery model <br />Periodically review the national logistics network model to ensure it remains cost effective & relevant to the needs of the business <br />Develop a standard costing delivery model <br />Drive the implementation of a comprehensive transport information system <br />Determine & analyse all transport cost drivers to enable the daily management of effective & efficient deliveries so as to meet the pre agreed to KPI&rsquo;s <br />Run multiple "what if" scenarios with robust cost benefit analyses to determine the most cost-effective optimized daily routing plans. <br />Provide support to the depot transport teams to drive cost containment and/or cost reductions, delivery flexibility through development of comprehensive transport performance metrics. <br />Evaluate current route planning to ensure that the routing remains as optimal as possible. <br />Evaluate elements, such as delivery windows, delivery appointments, load-unload time, drops per vehicle, etc to help drive cost efficiency and delivery effectiveness <br />Analyse, consolidate orders on origin and destination locations, cost effective load versus vehicle optimisation, <br />Evaluate current route planning techniques / methodologies / software to determine staff training needs and provide ongoing on the job training as needed <br />Acts loyally to the organisation by actively representing and implementing the business decisions <br />Be actively involved in and support change initiatives, be a change agent to drive implementation of the 2015 business strategy within the transport department <br />Translate defined strategies into specific goals, objectives and responsibilities <br />Ensure compliance to all policies and Standard Operating Procedures through in field audits as needed<br />To undertake logistics benchmarking & competitor analysis to build a best in class logistics delivery model. <br />Make use of C track reports to build a comprehensive actual vs. planned delivery management capability <br />Practice effective risk management when evaluating alternatives to ensure that risk mitigation strategies are adopted to contain any potential risks <br />Work with the client to ensure that Sales Areas and territories are optimized as best as possible <br />Learn product requirements and ensure that they are met <br />Solve production problems that arise within the organisation <br />Design information as well as manufacturing systems <br />Develop control systems that help in analysis of costs and planning of finances <br />Create and upgrade systems for goods and services distribution <br />Determine ideal locations to set up plants <br />Develop cost efficient processes in the engineering field <br />Monitor the general flow of operations <br />Establish programs of work measurement in order to guarantee fulfilment of targets and deadlines <br />Determine how best to use the work force to achieve maximum productivity <br />Give recommendations on how to improve productivity <br />Communicate with the staff and management on ways of implementing the plans and the recommendations that they come up with <br />Communicate with quality <br />Internal: Compile models to represent current and future scenarios <br />Internal: Facilitate implementation of solutions if required <br />Reduce operating cost through improved fleet utilisation, measured by reduced waiting times, reduced distances travelled, minimise the number of vehicles used, optimized routing solutions, all the while balancing the conflicting requirements of highest possible service levels at lowest possible delivery cost <br />Robust yield management : achieve operational efficiency by identifying , prioritising most profitable routes, orders, customers <br />Become the business super user with respect to the routing software and the business liaison with the routing software supplier. Provide training and support to the routing team as required <br />Interface effectively with the clients local routing team to jointly strive for an optimized sales / delivery model. Become the knowledge expert on routing / routing scenarios / effective route management to enable an optimized distribution / logistics value chain to be developed <br />Build appropriate financial models/tools. Use the results thereof to validate assumptions made, to improve local management decision making to enable reduced total cost of vehicle ownership and improved medium term forecasting of vehicle requirements <br />Support internal decision making processes by presenting accurate fact based information, which can be succinctly presented to management for critical review and approval, in either presentation and/or report form <br />Continuous business improvement initiatives <br />Provide high level project management capabilities to Business Units <br />Provide and present optimal solutions to internal and external customers <br />Proper coordination and application of project members <br />Focus on:<br />Cost Models <br />Support and consulting to win new clients <br />Scenario modelling for business improvement to clients <br />Implementation support <br />The incumbent can make decisions which affect their own tasks and would be required to make decisions which would affect the tasks of others. Inherent Requirements:
Bachelor of Technology degree in Industrial Engineering / Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science / Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics <br />Continuous Professional Development (Desirable) <br />Understands Business principals and language, including the fundamentals of finance and profitability.
