Work Description

The Section Engineer is a 2.13.1/2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible to provide operational service to the appointed 3.1(a) Manager, with a 1-year planning horizon. The role ensures effective and safe movement of men, ore and material in the shaft/plant and the associated maintenance and construction linked to the Operational Area of responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

• Engineering related qualification - BSC Degree / National Diploma.
• Government Certificate of Competency Mines and Works electrical or mechanical.
• Five years post engineering qualification experience, Two years of which to be on an operational Mine.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency in English.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying legal appointment (2.13.1/2.13.3.1) for Operational Area of responsibility.
• Ensure legal compliance.
• Ensure maintenance to standards.
• Knowledge of SAP PM will be an advantage.
• Experience with Trackless mining machinery will be an advantage.
• Ensure the operational movement of personnel, material and ore.
• Ensure construction to standard.
• Provide technical advice and backup for Operational Area of responsibility.
