Manage the Group’s Operational and Technical activities • Provide technical support to the CEO and Line Managers

Great North Transport, a leading passenger transport service provider in the Limpopo Province, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following challenging positions at its Head Office in Polokwane.

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER (COO)
(5-year contract)

Requirements: • As a minimum, a B-degree in the relevant field and 5 years’ senior transport management experience • Demonstrable technical knowledge of transport operations and leadership at senior management level • A sound understanding of the transport legislative environment • Analytical abilities • Good communication and negotiation skills • A relevant postgraduate qualification and bus transport experience will be added advantages.

Key functions: • Manage the Group’s Operational and Technical activities • Provide technical support to the CEO and Line Managers • Together with the CEO, facilitate the extension of the companies’ Negotiated Contracts • Manage and control the Operational and Technical budgets • Provide support in the acquisition and negotiations with suppliers of Operations and Technical equipment • Be responsible for operational and technical planning, implementation and control at both group and regional levels • Formulate, implement and control Operations and Technical policies and procedures, including internal control measures • Implement and manage operating contracts in accordance with the new transport policy • Provide leadership in the negotiations and implementation of tariffs • Ensure that the total operations of the company are efficient and effective • Liaise with the National Department of Transport regarding operational matters • Manage operations staff at head office and regions.
