Help the consumer movement flourish in Africa! Lead and support the development of consumer protection and empowerment in Africa by supporting our members in the region to develop as consumer champions and link with the worldwide consumer movement.
Contract: Full time, permanent role
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Location: Pretoria, South Africa
Consumers International (CI) has been sowing the seeds of consumer rights in Africa for nearly two decades, and we are now looking for someone to help us really grow across the continent. We are seeking to recruit a passionate ‘people person’ and experienced manager who is committed to social justice and development.
You will be working with consumer rights organisations across Africa. As well as helping our members grow and managing the CI Africa office, you’ll be closely involved in seeking out new potential members and managing a range of external relationships.
Based in our new regional office in Pretoria, South Africa, this is a unique opportunity for someone who has senior management and NGO experience, has worked across Africa, and wants to make a real difference for consumers.
Consumers International is the only independent global campaigning voice for consumers.
With over 220 member organisations in 115 countries, we are building a powerful international consumer movement to help protect and empower consumers everywhere.
Minimum requirements include:
- Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in Africa
- Post graduate degree in relevant area
- Proven track record in Managing a team of multi-national staff, including managing at a distance
- Experience of working at a strategic level
- Successful Fundraising from non commercial funds, trusts and other organisations
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to: Communicate, persuade, negotiate and present
- Demonstrable commitment, energy and enthusiasm to drive a small office forward in its ambitious fundraising objectives
- Bring to the organisation and our members high levels of energy and innovative, strategic thinking
- Fluency in English and French
- Belief and commitment to the mission, vision and work of CI
