Answering the phone and providing messaging backup to the Depot Manager who is often out of the office with clients

Scaw Distribution is a business within the Wire Rod Products (WRP) Division of the Scaw Metals Group (Scaw) that focuses upon satisfying the lifting product needs of customers, primarily in the Mining and Engineering sectors, and we are specifically geared up to add value to the steel products that are manufactured at the WRP products plants through our network of branches across Southern Africa.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following position at our Kuruman Branch:

Internal Sales & Administration Officer (2 Posts)

Our Kuruman branch was established to serve our customers in the area and thus generate sustainable good business for the company. The operation consists of a sales office, finished goods stores and a well-equipped workshop where products such as Haggie steel wire ropes and McKinnon chains are cut to specified lengths or made up into slings to specified standards.

Key performance areas include: • Answering the phone and providing messaging backup to the Depot Manager who is often out of the office with clients • Responding to customer enquiries and processing quotes and sales orders • Maintaining inventory levels and placing orders on Scaw plants and external suppliers • General office administration as well as maintaining and filing records • Acting as a safety officer and attending to basic HR functions • Protection and security of company assets including inventory control.

Requirements: • Matriculation with strengths in literacy and numeracy • 3 years’ practical sales office and general admin experience • Knowledge of, or experience in, the lifting and rigging industry plus exposure to the safety environment would be a distinct advantage • Good relationship building skills • Computer literacy – ability to use MS programmes effectively. SAP experience would be a further plus.
