The incumbent will safely and effectively operate a stoping panel during a shift by ensuring safe working practices and continuous inspection of panel condition.

Two Rivers Platinum Mine is a mechanised mining operation, situated 60km from Lydenburg and 25km from Steelpoort, operating as a quality long-term supplier of platinum.

The Mine’s housing complex is situated in Lydenburg.

Crew Captain

Reporting to the Miner, the incumbent will safely and effectively operate a stoping panel during a shift by ensuring safe working practices and continuous inspection of panel condition.

Applicants must be in possession of a Grade 10 and at least 2 years’ experience in trackless mining within platinum operations. Literacy in English is essential.

Responsibilities: • Test for flammable gas • Examine work area prior to commencing work from the face and bar down loose hanging • Perform mid-shift exams/barring activities • Barricade properly • Mark and plug misfires • Check ventilation flow • Measure temperatures • Install ventilation controls when required • Install and remove mechanical props • Water down • Cover electrical cables.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29/1996.
