ARTISAN - ELECTRICIAN: RETICULATION

ROLE, PURPOSE AND DELIVERABLES
Optimum Collieries requires the services of a hardworking, conscientious individual to work in the Reticulation Section. Your role will be to establish, maintain and repair high-voltage power supplies such as substations and overhead lines. You will be required to work on ringfeeds. Your experience relating to fault-finding, troubleshooting, phasing and testing on power supplies is essential to this position.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and experience

Ideally, you will have a combination of the following exposure, competencies and qualifications required for success:
• Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
• Valid trade test – Electrician (Section 13)
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-trade test experience
• Medium- and high-voltage experience
• Overhead line building and repair experience as well as ringfeed experience
• Experience in cable termination, NERM and earthing
• Thorough understanding of protection and ABB relays
• Code 10 provincial driver’s licence
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be prepared to work standby, shifts and overtime

GENERAL
• The successful candidates must be able to obtain a certificate of medical fitness
• The appointments will be made in line with Optimum Coal’s transformation commitments and in alignment with the BBBEE Act (53/2003)
