Job Details

Processing of the payroll functions, including new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, rate changes, retroactive adjustments and special pays; maintains vacation, sick leave and worker's compensa



RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payroll for 400 employees; including calculation of wages, overtime, payroll deductions, benefit contributions
  • Coordination of efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports).
  • Collect data from the electronic timekeeping system and setup each employee, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
  • Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee benefit contributions are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review adherence to policy including compliance with local and tax regulations.
  • Employee benefit administration including medical aid, pension and provident funds.
  • Coordinate medical aid sessions between consultants and staff as well as pension fund sessions.
  • Assist with remuneration surveys’ inputs and benchmarking exercises in the market.
  • Assist compensation staff in data gathering for compensation survey inputs.
  • Analyze trends and provide relevant information to the HR Manager.
  • Review and reconcile monthly accounts, and ensure accurate payment to 3rd parties.
  • Process files to import and export to different software.
     
    REQUIREMENTS:
    Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years payroll experience within a medium to large sized organization.
  • Working knowledge of HR fundamentals and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, and VIP.
  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.
