The incumbent will install and maintain all electrical equipment in his/her area of responsibility and ensure implementation and enforcement of management decisions, legal requirements and company standard policies.

Xstrata Alloys Western Mines is one of the world’s largest producers of chrome. Western Mines is located in the North West Province, on the outskirts of Rustenburg. We have the following opportunities at Horizon Mines for career-minded individuals:

Responsibilities: The incumbent will install and maintain all electrical equipment in his/her area of responsibility and ensure implementation and enforcement of management decisions, legal requirements and company standard policies. Stand-by duties, accident investigation and hazard identification through risk assessment will also form part of his/her duties.

Requirements: The successful candidate must be in possession of an N3 Electrical qualification, relevant trade certification in the Electrical field of study and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a trackless mining Trackless Mobile Machinery environment. Experience on 11kV reticulation and overhead transmission lines is essential, along with knowledge of SD
requirements and Mine Health and Safety Legislation including Environmental aspects. The ideal candidate will be results driven, able to operate on his/her own, have technical excellence and team management skills. Applicants also need operational problem solving and decision making and good communication skills (bilingualism or trilingualism will be advantageous) as well as Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality awareness. A minimum Code B (Code 08) driver’s licence is vital.
