Division: Visible Policing

Firearm, Liquor and Second-hand Goods Control

The generic minimum requirements applicable to all posts unless specified differently are as follows:
• Competency in post-specific core functions of the advertised post
• Fluency in at least two official languages of which one must be English
• All applicants appointed in terms of the South African Police Service Act must be in possession of at least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence and must be medically, physically and mentally fit.

Core functions:
• Ensure the operational functioning of a national firearms, liquor and second-hand goods call centre
• Ensure the provisioning of a Customer Enquiry Service for firearms, liquor and second-hand goods-related enquiries.

Additional requirements: Applicable NQF 6 qualification and 2 years’ relevant experience in the field of the post or Grade 12 with at least 4 years’ experience in the field of the post.

General:

• Although the posts are advertised, the National Commissioner may withdraw the posts from the advertisement, re-advertise or not fill the posts
• If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview
• The South African Police Service will verify the residential address and qualifications of applicants, as well as citizenship
• Reference checking will be conducted on all short-listed applicants
• Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate’s whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post
