About the job:
Job objective:
In this role, the Service Line Technician will set up the telephone-based remote support for the customers of our new sales and service subsidiary in South Africa in close cooperation with the local Service Manager (MD) and the Headquarters’ (HQ) Service division and provide A to Z technical services to customers over the phone and via email.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Answers incoming customer calls and processes customer queries and error messages sent to the service line at our branch
  • Provides instant customer support (1st level) so that issues relating to single and three-phase solar inverters for  photovoltaic plants can be easily and remotely resolved
  • Records all issues in SAP CRM documentation and prepares regular reports to the Service Manager and to the HQ service division


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Requires educational training in an electro-technical field
  • Has at least two years of experience in professional customer service and in technical helpline or remote support
  • Ideally has a very good understanding of high voltage and measurement equipment
  • Must be proficient using MS Office and SAP; a basic understanding of IP network technology would be advantageous
  • Is willing to attend training in Germany as required
  • Has very good English and Afrikaans language skills; German language skills would be an asset
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with customers in a positive and professional manner as well as be able to work effectively and independently

 
Training:

  • At least 4 weeks at our headquarters in Niestetal, Germany

 
Reporting line:

  • Reports to the Service Manager of SMA South Africa
