Job Details

Jubail University College, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wishes to invite highly qualified and experienced male and female candidates to apply for the positions of Chairperson in various academic departments.

The College, established in 2006, is part of the Royal Commission and is located in coastal Jubail Industrial City in the heart of the prosperous Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The medium of instruction is English and the college runs a preparatory year program for students who must reach a prescribed level of proficiency in English, Mathematics and General Science, before beginning their major/specialization studies.

The Departments in which Chairpersons are required are:
  • Business Administration & MIS.
  • Computer Science.
  • Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical / Interior Design).
  • English Language.
  • General Studies (Mathematics / Physical Education / Chemistry / Physics).

The Candidate should meet the following criteria:
  1. Qualifications: A PhD in a relevant field of study.
  2. Extensive full time teaching experience at tertiary level, as well as appropriate research experience. Overseas   experience, particularly in the Middle East, is highly desirable.
  3. Experience as a departmental chairperson with proven academic administrative and management skills. These  would include demonstrable experience in planning, organizing, coordinating, leading and monitoring an  academic department. Experience in industry would be required in certain disciplines.
  4. Excellent communication skills and native/near-native fluency in English. Knowledge of Arabic would be a plus.
  5. Superb leadership skills and team-building capabilities.
  6. Strong computer skills and proficiency in using the MS Office suite of programs.

Remuneration: In return, candidates are offered a highly competitive remuneration package consisting of the following:
  • Secure two year contract with a government institution, renewable annually thereafter.
  • An extremely generous tax-free monthly salary paid in Saudi Riyals, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Monthly inflation allowance (currently 15% of basic salary).
  • Monthly transportation allowance.
  • Free furnished accommodation, according to marital status, or an accommodation allowance.
  • Free health care.
  • Primary and secondary schooling education for 2 dependent children.
  • Free flights to Saudi Arabia, as well as annual air tickets to point of origin for vacation purposes.
  • 60 days paid summer leave plus 2 short national holidays (of approximately 10 days each).
