The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is seeking a suitable candidate for the position of Vice-Chancellor and Principal. Reporting to the Council, the Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Accounting
Officer of the University.
DUT is in the process of developing into a leading university of technology for the region and beyond. With a student enrolment of over 22 000 and a staff complement of over 1 300, spread across 7 campuses in the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg, DUT offers a range of exceptional career-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

DUT seeks a visionary academic leader with extensive executive management experience who has the integrity, values, temperament and judgement to inspire and unite the diverse body of staff and students behind a common purpose. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to lead the University in terms of
its vision, mission, core values and strategic plan.
The following attributes would be strong recommendations for the post:
*Ability to develop and communicate a vision and passion for innovation at a university of technology
* Skills for the efficient management of a complex multi-campus and diverse institution
* Ability to lead a senior management team to work co-operatively with council, senate and other constituencies of the University
* A strong publications record in peer reviewed and other journals
* A thorough understanding of the higher education landscape, including the relevant legislation that frames the higher education system
* Experience in partnership building and fundraising across a range of sectors locally, regionally and internationally
