Associate Administrative Officer

The United States Peace Corps, an American government development agency, seeks a full-time Associate Administrative Officer (A/AO). The A/AO will report directly to the Associate Peace Corps Director/Administrative Officer (APCD/AO). The APCD/AO, in collaboration with the Country Director, manages all aspects of Peace Corps' budget and finance, accounting, contracting and procurement, general services, property management,
motor pool and human resources. The newly-created post of A/AO will be a senior staff position and become involved in all aspects of Peace Corps' operations.

This is a professional supervisory position involving oversight and direction of a variety of business management and operations functions, such as procurement of services (contracts) and supplies, maintenance, fiscal
controls and accountability, property inventory, management of office staff (including secretarial, financial assistant, and administrative assistants), and other operational components essential to the overall smooth operating of the Peace Corps South Africa office.

Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required. Six to eight years of progressively responsible experience in professional accounting or auditing required • Level 4 (fluent) in English and one or more South African Languages (writing, reading and speaking) is required • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and management reporting and analysis. General knowledge of Peace Corps business-its goals and objectives. Familiarity with South African business practices and  commercial accounting systems • Sound supervisory and managerial skills. Good analytical skills coupled with sound practical sense. Excellent interpersonal skills to enable the Incumbent to interact effectively
with senior officials within PC and the private sector • Must have excellent writing skills and be able to make formal presentations to post staff at all levels.
