Provide GIS professional services in support of all the programmes of the Department.



Office of the Chief Directorate: Province Shared Services Centre (KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, Free State, Eastern Cape, Western Cape And Gauteng)

Senior Managers: Spatial Information Service (Various)
Salary: R652 572 per annum (all-inclusive package to be structured in accordance with the rules of Senior Management Structure) (Level 13)

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geography, Geographic/Geo-spatial Information Systems (GIS), or related spatial/information management qualification
  • Registration or proof of eligibility for registration as a GIS Practitioner with the South African Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors will be an added advantage
  • Completed relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years’ management experience at the level of Deputy Director in the Public Service (or verifiable evidence of comparable management or professional leadership in GIS)
  • Understanding of the role of spatial information in development planning and spatial planning
  • Knowledge of Government’s planning framework, policies and programmes, including rural development programmes
  • Financial, general and project management skills
  • Valid driver’s licence.


Duties:

  • Provide GIS professional services in support of all the programmes of the Department
  • Render spatial analysis, spatial information management and project management inputs and professional services support for all the programmes and projects of the Department
  • Support the National Office in the execution of the strategic and operational plans of the Chief Directorate: Spatial Planning and Information, including, but not limited to, providing support to municipalities in respect of their IDPs, SDFs, LUMS, GIS and related matters
  • Carry out any other duty incidental to the achievement of the Department’s Strategic Plan.
