A Mining Engineervacancy exist in one of the gold mining company in the Bedfordview area. the incumbent will be responsible for Assisting in the provision of long term Five Year and Life of Mine Production and Development plans, professional techn



KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Provide Professional Technical support to ensure layouts and plans are delivered to Mine Management, Mining Department and other service departments in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of  medium- to long-term plans ensuring budgeted targets are met and that these plans are delivered to the Mining Department in a timely manner.
  •  Assist in the calculation and presentation of mid-year and annual ore reserves to standard as per legal requirements.
  •  Act as a liaison between planning and operations departments coordinating engineering efforts, ensuring that short-term objectives are aligned with medium- and long-term strategies to meet company objectives.
  • Provide supervision & training to other Mining Engineers in medium/long term planning.
  • Identifying areas for Continuous Improvement initiatives.

 

 PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

 Education Requirements:

 

  • B. Sc in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution, or equivalent recognised qualification

 

 Experience Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 2 years open pit mining experience including at least 5 years experience in a production environment, preferably in precious metals.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral with the ability to clearly present and discuss schedules and plans with operations personnel.
  • Ability to execute project work, evaluate options and to write reports
  •  Exposure in the development of Life of Mine strategies utilizing open pit 3D mine design and scheduling software packages.
  • Knowledgeable in ore reserve estimation.
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD 2000 (or similar CAD package), Mine 2-4D planning software, EPS scheduling software or equivalent mine planning and scheduling software
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite

    Note that this position involves travelling on regular basis to Tanzania
