Job Details

A vacancy exists for an Engineering Buyer. The job incumbent will report directly to Senior Buyer.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Manage and procure engineering items;
• Procuring stock items at the lowest possible price;
• Maintaining a culture of quality;
• Supplier performance measurement;
• Budget control;
• Maintaining proper stock levels to reduce redundancy;
• Proven negotiation skills
• Good communication skills

The ideal candidate should:

• Have a National Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering;
• Have knowledge of mechanical; electrical and electronics components; material specifications; analysis of drawings and maintenance principles;
• Have knowledge and understanding of ERP systems, eg JDE, SAP, etc;
• 5 years engineering and project procurement experience;
• Understand (TCO) Total cost of Ownership concept;
• Be a team player and be able to work under pressure;
• Be able to work overtime if required;
• Knowledge of procurement SOP’s and Policies

The position is graded at a Peromnes 09 level.
