The purpose of the Team Lead Program is to create a network to share information, techniques, experience, and knowledge with peers and the organization as a whole.
Position Summary
A Team Lead is defined as a senior level consultant that demonstrates superior skills in the areas of product knowledge and project implementation, as well as the willingness and ability to mentor others. The purpose of the Team Lead Program is to create a network to share information, techniques, experience, and knowledge with peers and the organization as a whole.
Essential Job Functions
Team Lead activities include the following: Act as a mentor to individuals assigned to your team.
- Facilitate team sharing and learning via bi-weekly conference calls or webcasts with team.
- Answer e-mails and voicemails and provide direction as necessary.
- Serve as primary escalation point for team member questions.
- Serve as regional expert for product and liaison to GCS and other divisions within SAG.
- Based on the area of expertise, mentor fellow consultants as necessary. This may include answering product or design questions via e-mail or voicemail and, from time to time, facilitating working onsite with consultants to perform specific knowledge transfer.
- Provide guidance and assistance to team members on product certification and keeping current on latest product releases. Goal is to have 100% of consultants certified on their team’s product before July 2010.
- Identifying critical training needs.
- Complete initial annual Personnel Evaluation for each team member and submit to the RMO Director no later than December 15. Present the final version to the consultant in conjunction with their manager.
- To promote inter-division information sharing:
- Arrange to have other divisions within SAG (eg PD, Marketing, Presales, Competency Center etc) communicate relevant product, methodology or consulting information, while building a working relationship with these departments
- Participate in the Team Lead conference call (initially weekly then one per month)
- When e-learning or remote courseware is available, encourage attendance to such training classes.
- Generate client success stories or implementation case studies (one per quarter).
- Generate assets for our internal knowledge sharing database: GEAR (one per quarter).
- Participate in the candidate interview process, focusing on product knowledge
Team Lead activities/responsibilities do not include the following:
- The Team Lead is not a Services Manager, and is not responsible for scheduling, utilization, or forecasting for their team members.
- The Team Lead is to maintain a technical focus, and will not be responsible for any OpenAir approvals (timesheets, schedule requests and expense claims) or travel approval forms.
Competency Center Interaction
The Competency Center should be utilized as a conduit between Product Development and our teams thereby facilitating the sharing of information, e.g. the Best Practices. This group can also be an information source for the teams for the following areas:
- Best practices
- New product/release information
- Recently identified critical bugs
- Product development briefings
- Product release schedules.
- Lastly, this group can be used as a resource for things such as application design escalation.
Incenitve Plan - Team Leads should note that their main focus will remain revenue generation by way of their own billable hours. A maximum of 50 hours per quarter should be allocated to work on the Team Lead program. Hours worked as a Team Lead should be allocated to the Team Lead task in OpenAir. These hours (up to 50 per person per quarter) will receive UTE credit.
Summary of Deliverables:
- Bi-weekly conference calls or webcasts with team.
- Arrange to have other divisions within SAG attend your team conference calls at least once a month.
- Arrange to have one of the team members present a best practice or some other interesting information around the team’s product at least once a month.
- Annual written Personnel Evaluations for each team member and verbal personnel evaluation reviews.

Requirements:
Skills:
- Should have experience with project management, contract management, risk management, client management, deliverable and quality management, and scope control management.
- Strong Project leader and client management skills
- Design and implementation
- Tuning and optimization
- Client management/implementation skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum of 10-12 years related work experience with 3 years supervisory or project leader experience.
- Industry Fortune 500 experience a plus.
- CAF, IS and BPM Software AG certification on current versions of the wM product suite is a plus and preferred.
- Project management certification
- Experience with three or more of the following areas: Java/C /object oriented programming - XML exposure - RDBMS (any Oracle, Informix, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase) - Unix or NT - EAI, middleware, or other integration experience - E-commerce, web servers (Netscape, Microsoft) or web application servers - CRM (Siebel, Clarify, Vantive...) - ERP (PeopleSoft, SAP, Baan, Oracle Applications, JDE) - E-Commerce (Broadvision, ATG, B2B or other) - RosettaNet - MRO Procurement, Supply Chain, or logistics business process reengineering/strategy. WebMethods or Software AG products. Tibco, SeeBeyond,Vitria a plus.
- Similar experience and education will be considered.
