VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) is a regional membership-based organization representing the common interests of farmers in southern Africa. Its Secretariat is based in Centurion, Pretoria, South Africa. In order to effectively discharge its mandate in the areas of policy advocacy on regional, continental and global matters, strengthening of farmers’ organizations and the provision of agricultural information, the organization is seeking to recruit candidates from the SADC region for vacancies described below for its Secretariat.
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Reporting to the CEO, she/he will be responsible for all project activities of the organization. Key duties include design, development, planning, supervision and coordination of operational activities; development of norms and standards for operational programmes; overall management of operational budgets; production of consolidated operational management reports, including stakeholder reports; supervision of related staff; performance management and measurement; participation in the strategy and policy making processes of the organization; provision of advice and support to SACAU members; development of strategic partnerships with relevant organizations; resource mobilization, and representation of SACAU and advocacy.
Qualifications and experience: This is a senior level position and candidates should have at least a post graduate degree in development management, agricultural development, organizational development or related fields. In addition, he/she should have at least 5 years relevant experience at senior level in development management at regional and/or international levels. Other requirements include extensive experience in M&E, donor reporting, resource mobilization, human resources and financial management, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate in French will be an added advantage. The post entails extensive travel in the region.
All the above posts are offered on a 3-year contract and a remuneration package which is dependent on qualifications and experience. The application should provide 3 contactable references.
