HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA

 

  

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Human Resources Officer provides strategic human resources support to MSH SPS South Africa project office and is a resource for the Lesotho, Swaziland, and Namibia project offices and to other MSH projects in the region as needed.  In consultation with the Senior Human Resources Manager/Partner in Arlington, he or she develops and implements a full spectrum of human resources practices, processes, systems, and activities linked to short and long-term organizational needs and objectives to include recruitment, advice and counsel on employee relations issues, guidance on compensation and benefits, performance management, etc.  He or she works closely with the MSH HR Arlington Office to obtain security assurance on new employees prior to offering employment, and on issues of disciplinary content. The Human Resources Officer observes MSH and donor policies and guidelines in execution of these responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 1. Master\\\'s Degree in Human Resource Management, or Bachelor\\\'s Degree with significant experience in human resources management
  • 2. At least five years\\\' HRM working experience. Experience working in an international organization in the South Africa region preferred. Demonstrated experience working with USG funded programs is strongly preferred
  • 3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of labor laws in South African including CCMA procedures. Knowledge of labor laws in the relevant countries in the region a plus.
  • 4. Demonstrated ability to implement and manage all aspects of the HRM function in line with current law, practices, and trends.
  • 5. Demonstrated ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and to handle confidential matters discreetly; experience in conflict resolution helpful.
  • 6. Ability to competently assess priorities; manage a variety of complex activities simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment, and meet competing deadlines
  • 7. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
  • 8. Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate activities with senior project management staff and proven ability to work successfully in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • 9. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail strongly desired.
  • 10. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to write, speak, and conduct business in English.
  • 11. Demonstrated intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
